Many people experience an episode of mechanical back and neck pain during their life. Often this does not occur as a result of a specific incident, but develops due to the regular “use and abuse” that comes with a busy life!
LOW BACK PAIN can present as mildly as an aching sensation in the lower back, right up to severe pain radiating into the leg, commonly known as sciatica. Sometimes patients can attribute its onset to a lifting injury or accident, while equally it can be of unknown onset with no apparent mechanism of injury. By consulting a Chartered Physiotherapist you can be confident that we are medically trained and can identify more serious pathologies and facilitate further investigations or refer on as required. However if we determine that your back pain is likely to respond to conservative physiotherapy treatment, you can rest assured that our experienced therapists have advanced post-graduate qualifications to help accurately diagnose and treat disc, joint, muscle and nerve issues.
NECK PAIN can be felt centrally in the neck; up into the head causing headaches (cervicogenic headaches);or travelling down the arm to the fingers, or down the spine to the shoulder blade. Sometimes it is accompanied by pins and needles/tingles in the arm and hand, commonly called a “trapped nerve”. Neck pain often develops due to poor posture, however it can also by caused by a whiplash type injury– either from a road traffic collision or fall. As always, when you choose a Chartered Physiotherapist you can have peace of mind in knowing we have auniversity-level qualification and are committed to the highest possible standards of care..
