Clinical Pilates is a new and innovative treatment, whereby Pilates exercises are tailored made to the individual, ideal for rehabilitation, preventing further injury and for general health and well-being.
Having had the opportunity to train in New Zealand in a variety of Pilates methods, Sarah Griffin (Our Pilates Instructor and Chartered Physiotherapist) has found that the DMA Approach Clinical Pilates is the gold standard in Physiotherapy Led Pilates, ensuring every aspect of the clients needs are met.
Clinical Pilates will consist of a series of mat based exercises in various different body positions which have been adapted by physiotherapists to make them more suitable for patients with back and neck pain, and those recovering from injury.
To date, DMA Physiotherapy Led Pilates has the most evidence behind it, ensuring each client will receive a specifically tailored exercise program. Before attending Sarah’s class each client will be invited to attend a free Pilates Assessment where they can discuss any previous injuries and set personal goals. Here, Sarah will ensure that any deficits in motor control and strength are targeted both in the class in and their individually tailored Pilates Program.
Clinical Pilates is a relaxing and gentle form of exercise. Here at Imokilly Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic we run small classes to enable the patient and physiotherapist to work together to ensure that the exercises are being completed correctly and so that if required the exercises can be adapted on a one to one basis.
Why is DMA Clinical Pilates superior to other traditional methods of Pilates?
- Reduce pain and safely manage your injury.
- Correct poor mechanics that underlie injuries.
- Greater resistance to injury.
- Training your muscle groups to help your body to work safely and more efficiently.
- An overall feeling of physical wellbeing, with improved posture, balance and motor control.
DMA Clinical Pilates™ is ideal for rehabilitation, preventing further injury and for general health and well-being
